So with all the fanfare about Apple’s new product (and the Street’s lukewarm reception), I felt I had to check it out myself. Luckily I live in San Francisco and was able to head on over to MacWorld 2008.
I was surprised at how light the MacBook Air actually felt- it was like picking up a thick magazine! The multi-touch user interface was fun to play with truly innovative. The simplicity of design and ease of use was pure Apple.
Between this product announcement, some of the others at MacWorld and iPhone sale, I think that Q1 earnings on 22-Jan-08 will be even higher than the Street is predicting, meaning all of those bargain hunters who picked up shares this last week should be pretty happy in the next few weeks/ months!

Awesome Citizen… I am not sure their earnings will blow everyone out of the water. But they should be good indeed. I see some upside to the “Apple” brand in the near future (even though the keynote was not as hot as expected).

well, how many years in a row does the market expect major innovations from aapl? perpetually? that’s a rough place to be.
the new air looks pretty impressive in the flashiness of the design, etc but the actual specs leave a little to be desired and honestly i think the loss of a dvd slot is a bit premature for the current market product support. aapl needs to seriously maintain wider market appeal–even if in the process conveying a bit of a ‘we don’t give a damn’ attitude in the process–if it seeks to keep gaining market share.
i think the long-term, home-as-computing-center system stevie j. announced has amazing potential, if people keep buying into the aapl product. jobs is obviously thinking people will. if the consumer body plays out in this direction, aapl would be the controlling household product, outstripping anything GE ever remotely accomplished.
my question becomes, “would they finally start paying a dividend at that point? or would aapl keep needing to dump everything into R&D just to maintain that market position?”
