March 13th, 2008 · 1 Comment

February 19th, 2008 · 2 Comments

being invested in SouthernCopper (PCU), i can’t help but notice the precipitous climb back to the triple digits. i figured some of it was to get in on the div, which for this quarter was dropped to $1.40 per share, but the x-date is long gone. i also thought it may have to […]

IndyMac’s letter to the shareholders: “We’re undervalued by 50%”

February 12th, 2008 · 4 Comments

first off, thanks to calculated risk for bringing the letter to my attention.my initial reaction is that it’s fine for the CEO to be writing this letter and it’s at an important time the company history. many of the criticisms on calculated risk are defensible, particularly when they call into question the “awareness” of […]

Where’s the product your company sells on the adoption curve?

February 11th, 2008 · No Comments

Yesterday there was an interesting op/ed piece from W. Michael Cox and Richard Alm, both prominent members of the Federal Reserver Bank of Dallas.
The two economists were examining income flows for Americans and essentially making the claim that the income gap between the top earners and the lowest earners wasn’t indicative of the standard […]

February 1st, 2008 · 2 Comments

i know, i’m probably going to be handed my head on a platter for something like that but i really can’t help thinking how stupid this marriage would be. and at the price!!! eek! the basic buffett sentence, “I am willing to pay $31 for each share of Yahoo!, valuing Yahoo! at […]
